Travellers flying with Singapore Airlines in the latter half of this year could start to see some healthy additions to the carrier’s in-flight menus following an announcement on Thursday that it had partnered with Como Shambhala to introduce the spa brand’s “wellness cuisine” on select flights.
The new health-focused in-flight cuisine is the first phase of the two companies’ partnership. Future cooperation will extend to on-board amenities and in-flight entertainment.
The airline’s new dining options will use “seasonal and sustainable ingredients” to form dishes with “memorable and delicious flavours, marrying healthy eating with pleasurable gastronomy”, according to a press release from Singapore Airlines.
There’s good news for fans of Singapore Airlines’ “Book the Cook” meal pre-ordering service: these co-developed dishes will be progressively made available to book ahead of time. All classes can expect to see a new “wellness” menu with specially curated dishes as well.
Speaking about the new partnership, Singapore Airlines’ senior vice president of customer experience, Yeoh Phee Teik, said the partnership “reaffirms our dedication to the holistic wellbeing of our customers”.
Indeed, this is not the first wellness-focused dining initiative the airline has launched. For its nearly 19-hour non-stop flights to New York – the longest commercial flight in the world – the airline introduced similar healthy food options developed in partnership with wellness brand Canyon Ranch.
Business Traveller Asia-Pacific was on the inaugural flight from Singapore to New York (Newark) last year. Reviews of the business class seat and experience can be found below for both legs of the journey below:

Other airlines have similarly made efforts to introduce healthier meal options, especially on longer flights. On its 17-hour Perth-London flights, Australia’s flag carrier Qantas offers meal choices developed in collaboration with the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre that are designed to encourage sleep at optimal times.
Como Shambhala is a spa and wellness brand that operates hotels under its Como Hotels and Resorts arm. Its flagship property is the Bali-based Como Shambhala Estate. The group also has urban resorts in London, Miami and Bangkok.
