Hilton has announced plans for the first two French properties under its upscale lifestyle Canopy brand.

Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero and Canopy by Hilton Bordeaux Chartrons are both set to open in 2021.

The Canopy brand was launched in 2014, and there are currently just nine properties open, including the brand’s first mainland Europe hotel which opened in Zagreb in November.

Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero will feature 123 rooms, and will be located “in sight of the place du Trocadero and Palais de Chaillot in the 16th arrondissement of Paris”, while Canopy by Hilton Bordeaux Chartrons will overlook the Garonne River, and will feature a rooftop restaurant, bar and pool.

Hilton describes the Canopy brand as “a place in the neighbourhood to relax and recharge, offering simple guest-directed service, thoughtful local choices, and surprisingly comfortable spaces”.

The group has been steadily growing its portfolio of brands in France, adding the first Curio Collection, Garden Inn and Hampton properties in the country in the last three years.

Commenting on the news Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President, Development, EMEA, Hilton, said:

“Paris and Bordeaux are exceptional destinations, and these new hotels are meticulously designed to celebrate their respective neighbourhoods. Hilton’s expansion in France is gaining further momentum, with plans to triple our portfolio in the next five years. The introduction of new brands including Canopy by Hilton is testament to the quality of partners we are working with to grow across the country.”

A Canopy by Hilton hotel is also under development in London’s Aldgate district – it had originally been scheduled to open in 2018, but this has now been pushed back to mid 2020.
