Independent lounge operator Plaza Premium Group has opened up a new location in Southeast Asia, this time on the Malaysian island of Langkawi.
The new Plaza Premium Lounge Langkawi is the group’s 10th in Malaysia. The group already has four lounges in Kuala Lumpur, two in Kota Kinabalu, two in Penang and one in Kuching. The group also operates two Wellness Spas at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Travellers can find the lounge on level 1 in the Departure Hall at Langkawi International Airport, though it’s important to note that the lounge is located outside the secured area – i.e. before going through security clearance.
Along with essential features such as complimentary wifi and charging stations, the lounge fortunately also offers shower facilities for travellers looking to freshen up. Seating is a combination of dining room-style tables and chairs in the main area and more lounge-style comfy chairs in the relaxation zone.
One notable feature of the food and beverage offering is a live cooking station located near to some of the tables and chairs.
Plaza Premium has gone for a “glocal” menu, the group said in a press release, that includes regional dishes, such as nasi lemak, Hainan chicken rice and ipoh hor fun soup, as well as international options including pan-seared salmon with caper butter sauce and crab agio-olio fettuccini developed by chefs at sister lounges. The lounge also has a bar and draught beer.
Entry to the lounge starts at RM168 (US$41) for two hours and RM238 (US$58) for five hours. Plaza Premium is also offering 30 per cent discounts until April 30 for bookings made online. The lounge is open from 7am to 10pm daily.
