Intercontinental Hotels Group will add an Oxford property to its growing Voco brand in May.
The riverside hotel, set in 30 acres of gardens around three miles from Oxford city centre, is currently marketed under the De Vere brand.
The hotel is now listed on the IHG website as “coming soon”, with reservations available from May 8, and a note saying “Voco Oxford Thames is opening in 2nd Quarter of 2019”.
Features include Leaf Spa with indoor swimming pool, Crusaders Bar and Lounge, and River Room and Conservatory Restaurant.
The move is part of an agreement for IHG to rebrand 12 Principal and De Vere hotels (and one pipeline property) under brands including Kimpton and Voco.
Subscribers to Business Traveller will be able to read a review of Voco Cardiff in the April edition of the magazine.
Voco is intended to sit alongside IHG’s Crowne Plaza brand, and is growing through a mix of new hotels and conversions.
This week the brand announced its first property in the Netherlands, with Voco The Hague – Kneuterdijk 8 set to open in 2020.
The 200+ room hotel will be housed within a former bank in the city centre which features a listed facade. IHG says that “all historic features will be retained and very carefully renovated”.
Commenting on the news Mario Maxeiner, Managing Director Northern Europe, IHG, said:
“The Voco Kneuterdijk 8 in The Hague marks the first publicly announced signing of our new brand in Continental Europe.
“This signing continues the accelerated growth of the Voco brand since we first launched it last June and we are looking forward to bringing its upscale offerings to more travellers who seek a reliably different guest experience.
“We see lots of potential for Voco in Europe and are excited to expand its presence further across the region.”
