Changi Airport’s new Jewel mixed-use development will be opening its doors to visitors next month with April 17 announced as the official launch date.

Encompassing some 134,000 sqm and designed by Safdie Architects, RSP Architects Planners and Engineers, and Benoy as a combination of park and marketplace, Jewel is set to feature more than 280 retail and F&B outlets, including Southeast Asia’s largest Nike store, and an IMAX cinema. Other outlets already confirmed are Marks & Spencer, Muji, Zara, Uniqlo, along with food court Five Spice.

As previously reported by Business Traveller, a standout feature of the new Jewel complex will be the large rainforest Canopy Park that will comprise some 14,000 sqm of leisure and dining facilities of its own. Netted walkways akin to a giant tree house structure are suspended 25 metres above the ground will allow visitors to get a view of the space from above. That being said, the Canopy Park will not be open with the rest of the complex from April 17 and will instead open mid-2019.

The complex’s four-storey Forest Valley, meanwhile, has two walking trails and a 40-metre Rain Vortex – the tallest indoor waterfall in the world.

The hotel offers cabins bookable by the hour (for a minimum of four hours) including shower cabins for a quick refresh as well as Premium, Accessible and Family cabins for a more comprehensive recharge. The property will also have a 24-hour gym and co-working space.

Members of the public can actually get a sneak-peek at the development from April 11 to 16. This includes a three-hour tour.

Tickets must booked but are free of charge, with 500,000 tickets set to be made available. Registration begins on March 12 at 6am.

A number of bus services will enable travellers to get to Jewel from Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Travellers coming from T4 will need to head to T3 first.
