Air India Express has announced the commencement of international flight services from Surat, Gujarat.
On February 16, the maiden Air India Express flight IX 172 from Sharjah arrived at Surat International Airport at 11.30 pm, carrying 75 passengers. The return flight IX 171 with 180 passengers departed for Sharjah from the Surat International Airport on February 17. The airline deployed its Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the Sharjah-Surat route.
With this, Surat has become 20th destination on Air India Express network. The Sharjah-Surat sector will be operated four times a week.
Popularly known as the diamond city, Surat is a key commercial hub of Gujarat. Therefore, the commencement of international services is expected to further boost the city’s business, mainly the diamond and textile sector.
