Marriott will open the latest property under it luxury lifestyle joint-venture brand with Ian Schrager next week.

The Times Square Edition opens for previews on February 19, ahead of an official launch on March 12.

Located at 701 Seventh Avenue on the corner of 47th Street, the hotel features 452 rooms, and is the second Edition property in the Big Apple, joining the existing New York Edition on Madison Avenue.

Guests enter via a long ivory hall with Venetian plastered walls and ceiling, through to the lobby and bar area, which Marriott describes as “a series of black and white spaces”.

Commenting on the opening Ian Schrager said:

“The Golden Age of Times Square elicited the feeling that anything was possible. New York was the City of Dreams, Times Square at its heart, where everyone came together with a common purpose.

The Times Square Edition is the embodiment of this storied past, resurrected for the present, providing hope for the future of this most beloved neighbourhood.”

Opening rates at the hotel start from $269.

Last year Edition opened new properties in Bodrum, BarcelonaAbu Dhabi and Shanghai, with forthcoming locations including West Hollywood and Tokyo.
