Accorhotels looks set to launch a new brand of independent, boutique hotels under the name Greet.

Le Figaro reports that the new brand will launch this summer, initially in France, with properties ranging from 50 to 70 rooms.

According to the report Greet will be aimed at independent hoteliers, with design “left to the discretion of the owners”.

The only required facilities will be a bar, although Accorhotels has presented examples of rooms and common areas in order to firm up “the spirit of the brand”.

Le Figaro says that the hotel group wants the brand to be “vintage and uninhibited”, giving an example of a old fridge being turned into a wardrobe.

Accorhotels has added several brands over the last few years through acquisition, including Fairmont, Raffles, Sofitel and Movenpick, as well as taking a stake in SBE Entertainment Group which comprises brands including Delano, Mondrian, Hudson and SLS.

The group also plans to to relaunch the Orient Express Hotels brand in Bangkok next year, and has been experimenting with a hotel concept which allows travellers to design their own room, under its #360ROOM initiative.
