Ryanair has announced a useful new link for West Country travellers.

From May 26 it will launch twice weekly flights from Bristol to Milan Malpensa.

Flights operate every Wednesday and Sunday.

Schedules are:

Bristol-Milan Malpensa FR4574 1535-1845*

Milan Malpensa-Bristol FR4573  1350-1510

*Sunday timings are 1550-1900

Malpensa airport, although not as convenient as Milan’s close-in Linate, is an ideal gateway for Northern Italy and the Lakes. It is also close to Lugano in Swiss Ticino.

In recent times Ryanair has been moving into regional airports such as Cardiff and Exeter which used to be the preserve of financially-troubled Flybe.

It is interesting to note that Flybe operates twice weekly from nearby Cardiff to Milan Malpensa.

But Flybe will be axing this route in September with its final flight departing Cardiff for Milan on September 28.

Although it seemed that Virgin Atlantic and the Stobart Group had agreed to take over Flybe, the deal is not finalised, reports City AM.
