All Nippon Airways (ANA) has added Chennai, Tamil Nadu to its global network.

Starting this winter, the Japanese carrier will operate direct flights between Narita and Chennai, thereby marking the first direct connection between Japan and India.

Chennai is the third destination in India served by ANA after Delhi and Mumbai.

With this new service, ANA aims to cater growing business and leisure travel demand from India to Japan. This will also help in facilitating the cargo demand for Chennai that is being anticipated alongside the passenger demand.

Additionally, ANA will also focus on other South India cities including Bengaluru and Hyderabad that are major IT hubs.

The schedule and the aircraft being deployed on the route have not been announced yet.
