Mid-market hotel brand Village Hotel Club says it is aiming to grow its UK collection from 30 properties to 50 by 2026, with five openings set for the next two years.

Announcing what it called “aggressive expansion plans,” the group said it would invest £480 million to grow over the next eight years.

Its latest hotel opened this month in Filton, near Bristol, where BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Hewlett Packard and the MoD all have large sites.

The next five launches will be in Southampton, Basingstoke, Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Slough.

Village Hotel describes itself as a ‘high-tech concept’ – each property has a co-working space called VWorks and eclectic meeting rooms. At the new Filton hotel, each bedroom provides voice-activated services through Amazon Echo or Echo Dot.

Properties also feature 24/hour gyms and food and drink at the Village Hotel Pub and Grill.

Executive Chairman Gary Davis said:

“The openings in Bristol this year, and Portsmouth last year, mark a turning point in Village Hotel Club’s expansion plans, and Bristol is our most high-tech hotel to date.

“We are continuing to innovate and develop the product with the modern visitor and resident in mind, and I look forward to working with the entire Village team to ensure that we continue to deliver success.”
