Ahead of Kumbh Mela 2019, Air India has announced special flights to Allahabad (officially known as Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh. From January 13 to March 30, 2019, the national carrier of India will operate special flights connecting Allahabad with Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
Air India tweeted:
The Delhi- Allahabad route will operate five days a week — Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Likewise, the Ahmedabad-Allahabad flights will operate on Wednesday and Saturday, and the Kolkata-Allahabad route will be functional thrice a week— Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
This year, an approximate 150 million are expected to attend the Kumbh Mela. Therefore, this special flight service has been launched to accommodate the huge footfall during the festivities.
