SpiceJet has launched six new direct flights connecting Chennai with Varanasi, Shirdi, Port Blair and Bagdogra. All the flights are scheduled to commence from January 10, 2019, except the one on Chennai-Bagdogra route which will start operations from February 11, 2019.

It also includes an additional flight between Chennai and Ahmedabad, starting December 20, 2018. The additional flights on the Chennai-Ahmedabad-Chennai specially caters to the business travellers, as it facilitates a same day return journey.

SpiceJet will introduce eight new direct flights from Hyderabad connecting it with Kolkata, Pune and Coimbatore, starting January 1 next year. The airline has also announced Bhopal as its 50th domestic destination with five new direct flights from the city starting January 6, 2019, onwards. These include flights on Bhopal-Jaipur, Bhopal-Ahmedabad, Bhopal-Hyderabad, Bhopal-Shirdi route.

Meanwhile, the low-cost carrier is likely to join the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as a member. Currently, Air India, Jet Airways, Jet Lite and Vistara are the members of IATA. spicejet.com
