SAS has introduced two new features to its rewards programme EuroBonus, allowing members to share points and gain lifetime status.

EuroBonus points can now be shared or pooled between family and friends for free.

Members create a Point Sharing account and can invite up to seven people. They can only join one group at a time but can change or leave groups after six months.

The shared points can be spent on anything offered in the EuroBonus programme.

SAS will also introduce Lifetime Gold membership. Passengers can be awarded Lifetime Gold if they qualify for EuroBonus Gold status through point accrual or qualifying flight segments over ten consecutive years.

The Scandinavian airline said it would be making more additions to EuroBonus in 2019.

“A growing number of travellers share experiences and collect points from flights, through car rental, shopping, or many other offers from our partners,” said Johan Mägi, Head of EuroBonus at SAS.

“Sharing points is a great way to get those desired experiences faster, be it a bonus weekend getaway, a flight upgrade, a free hotel night, or any of the many options that SAS EuroBonus points offer.”

On the new lifetime status, Mägi commented: “We have a unique group of loyal travellers who choose SAS for their extensive travelling, year after year. Lifetime Gold is our way to thank those members with our most precious reward, to enjoy the exclusive service of SAS EuroBonus Gold status for life.”
