We got a sneak peek into TYGR, a modern Thai Bar & Grill restaurant in Mumbai, which is set to open on December 10, 2018. Owned by the Massive Restaurant’s Zorawar Kalra, this place has got something for everyone.

On entering, you can’t miss out on TYGR’s stunning lit bar in a golden hue, which is perfect to unwind and relieve the work stress.

While many dishes are Thai-inspired with spot-on flavours, this high-end eatery and bar also offers American grill and Japanese cuisines. The American grill menu features fresh vegetables and meat cooked straight on a charcoal fire, which has been imported from Japan.

The menu features an avocado carpaccio, a fresh avocado salad mixed with crunchy nuts; the scallop carpaccio; the sea bass ceviche; grilled butterfly prawns; corn and asparagus dumplings; chicken tart; the lamb bao; crab salad among others. For the mains, Kalra recommends the traditional jasmine rice with green Thai curry and the lamb massaman curry which was succulent. The green Thai curry was an absolute winner and quite comforting.

The cocktails reflect Thai flavour with a modern twist. Do try the Arm Stretcher drink, which is a refreshing blend of Thai Amaro, Aperol and strawberry sorbet, Mandarin (citrus), soda and prosecco. Another pretty looking drink – the Bourbon-based drink is a must try, which is an interesting mix of papaya, guava and Thai green syrup.

Zorawar Kalra, the owner of TYGR, says, “I am excited about TYGR, a restaurant that I have been working for quite some time. It’s also a cousin of Bo Tai restaurant in Delhi, which is now one of the top restaurants and has taken the city by the storm.”

He adds, “We love the palate of Mumbai, and we know that Mumbai loves Thai food so we have created something with a twist that we do with all our food. We have curated a fantastic cocktail menu by the bartenders and mixologists Dino Koletsas and Barnaby Ingram who have been associated with the Artesian Bar in London. They are here to create some fabulous cocktails that are innovative and yet very cutting-edge, and Thai inspired.”
