Easyjet has revealed plans to extend its existing loyalty recognition programmes, with a new points earning and redemption offering.
The plans were announced as part of the carrier’s full year 2018 results presentation last week.
The airline currently offers the paid-for Easyjet Plus scheme, which costs £199 per year, and offers customers benefits including dedicated bag drop desks, fast track security, speedy boarding and additional cabin baggage allowance.
Easyjet also operates the invitation-only Flight Club programme for its most frequent flyers, with the minimum threshold for being invited to join being 20 return flights per year with the airline. Business Traveller has previously reported on this scheme here.
It’s not exactly clear how the points-earning and redemption benefits will integrate with the above schemes, or if a new standalone programme will be launched, but Easyjet says that:
- Members will earn points for all Easyjet purchases
- There will be points-earning partnerships with other brands
- There will be the option of redeeming points in conjunction with cash
Easyjet says that the new programme will launch in the UK in 2019, before expanding to the European market in 2020, when it will also launch a Business Rewards scheme.
The carrier has been gradually expanding its Worldwide by Easyjet connections service, and it will be interesting to see if this ties into the new points-earning programme.
