Emirates is to be the newest member of growing connections service Worldwide by Easyjet.

The service allows passengers to book connections from Easyjet flights onto long haul flights with member airlines on easyjet.com.

For Emirates, the Worldwide service will currently only connect London Gatwick with Dubai on Easyjet-Emirates journeys, but more gateways and destinations are planned.

Worldwide by Easyjet was launched in 2017 with Norwegian and Westjet at Gatwick, and has since added partners including Corsair, La Compagnie, Loganair, Thomas Cook, and most recently Singapore Airlines and Singapore’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot.

The service has a two hours 30 minutes minimum connecting time, and flights are not held for connecting passengers – passengers who miss a connecting flight are transferred to the next available service.

Easyjet’s European connection hubs include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris CDG and Orly, London Gatwick, Milan Malpensa, Berlin Tegel and Venice Marco Polo.

The airline plans to announce more partners in the coming months, while also expanding the service to other European airports.

Easyjet CEO Johan Lundgren said: “We will be really pleased to welcome Emirates as an easyJet Worldwide partner airline. Given we both serve many popular destinations from London Gatwick, we are confident their addition to Worldwide will be very popular with our customers who are looking for an easy and seamless way to connect between Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

“We have been delighted with the appetite of partner airlines to expand Worldwide across our network and continue to broaden our focus to offer this unique connecting service at more of our biggest airports. Tens of millions of connecting passengers travel each year with journeys which begin or end in Europe.”

Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer said: “The Emirates proposition has always been about providing customers with a better flying experience both in the air and on the ground. We offer our customers an extensive choice of flight options not only through our own global network, but also through our partner airlines.

“We are delighted to join easyJet’s Worldwide programme, which enables us to jointly offer travellers a seamless connection experience when they fly on Emirates and easyJet combined itineraries via London Gatwick, one of our main UK gateways. We are confident that our customers will welcome this additional convenience, and we look forward to expanding our participation in the Worldwide by easyJet programme at other European gateways.”
