Budget chain Easyhotel has announced plans for a new 145-room property on Bristol’s West Street.

The hotel is expected to open in 2020, and will be located opposite the Cabot Circus shopping centre, around half a mile from Bristol Temple Meads station.

Meanwhile the group has received planning permission for a 180-room hotel in Oxford.

Also expected to open in 2020, the hotel will be located in the Summertown residential and shopping district, around two miles from the city centre.

The property will form part of a mixed use development which will include residential and retail space, as well as the hotel, which will occupy the upper floors of the building.

Commenting on the news Guy Parsons, CEO of Easyhotel PLC, said:

“Our investment in Bristol, the fifth since our fundraising in March marks the latest addition to our fast-growing portfolio of comfortable, stylish and highly affordable hotels in key tourist and business locations. The Group is also pleased to confirm that planning approval for the new Easyhotel Oxford has been granted. Construction work is anticipated to start in the New Year.

“The Group continues to review a large number of investment opportunities in both the UK and Europe and we look forward to announcing further developments in due course.”

Easyhotel currently operates ten owned hotels comprising 1,130 rooms, with a further 24 franchised properties comprising 2,039 rooms.

The group recently opened a franchised hotel in the Berkshire town of Reading, housed within the converted Rainbows Lodge on Caversham Road, within walking distance of the town centre and Reading railway station.
