KLM has announced a revamped meal service for its Europe Business Class passengers.

The Dutch airline said the new meal boxes, which will be served from October 28, would be “more substantial and varied, reflecting first-class quality.”

Before noon they will contain fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola, cold cuts and a hot roll, while later in the day passengers will be served a salad and side dishes such as apple pie.

Local suppliers will be used “as far as possible,” the airline said, while the boxes will be recyclable. The boxes have been redesigned to allow bigger portions, more space for a drink, and to fit the trays on KLM’s Embraer aircrafts better.

On the service’s six longest routes – Cagliari, Helsinki, Ibiza, Porto, Split and Valencia – Business Class passengers can choose when they get their meal. They will also get a Dutch kroket snack or a spinach and feta pastry.
