Minor Hotels has announced two new hotels in China under its M Collection brand, the Hengqin Zhuhai and Hangzhou Yuhang, which will be joining its portfolio within the next three to five years.

The M Collection Hengqin Zhuhai will be the first of the two properties to open and will be the first hotel under the M Collection brand in China. The new hotel is scheduled to open in 2020 and is located at the heart of Pearl River Delta with views of the surrounding mountains. With the expected completion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge connecting Hengqin with Hong Kong and Macau this month (see our feature “Greater Bay Area: Bridging the gap” for an in-depth look at the new bridge) visitors will be able to reach Macau and Hong Kong by car in under an hour.

The new resort will have 100 guestrooms in total, including suites and pool villas. On the food and beverage side, the hotel will house an all-day dining room, two specialty restaurants, a teahouse and a lobby lounge. Meanwhile, other facilities will include fitness and gym facilities, a swimming pool, a kids club and a spa.

The second M Collection property will be Hangzhou Yuhang in China’s eastern Zhejiang province. Slated to open in 2022, the property is being built in association with the Hangzhou Lichuan Environmental Agricultural Development Co Ltd and will be located inside a 433-hectare ecological park in Yuhang district, some 55 kilometres from the city centre in Yuhang district. The area notably is also home to the headquarters of Chinese tech giant Alibaba as well as a new private jet aviation centre.

In total the hotel will offer just 54 keys – 18 suites and 36 villas – that hang off the edge of cliffs, bringing guests intimately close to nature and the numerous tea plantations nearby.

All-day dining restaurants, a wine cellar, VIP Club, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a wellness centre, and a luxury spa will all be available in the hotel. Guests will also be able to explore the hotel’s organic farm and enjoy agricultural activities during their stay.

Minor Hotels currently has three properties in China under the Anantara brand in Xishuangbanna, Sanya and Guiyang.
