Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced a new agreement to open 15 properties under its Avid brand in Germany.

The hotels represent the first signings for Avid in Europe.

The brand launched in 2017, and opened its first hotel in Oklahoma City earlier this year.

IHG opens first Avid property

A total of 130 Avid properties have so far been signed across the US, Canada and Mexico.

Locations have not yet been announced for the German properties, but IHG said that under the Multi Development Agreement with developers GS Star, the hotels will be signed within three years and open within five, with the first property set to open by 2020.

Commenting on the news Kenneth Macpherson, CEO, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa, said:

“Avid hotels has seen strong signings in the US, Canada and Mexico making it IHG’s most successful new brand launch since Holiday Inn Express back in 1990. We are now excited to bring Avid hotels to Germany where our proactive development approach has delivered exceptional growth in recent years.”

IHG describes Avid as a mainstream brand “focused on satisfying guest’s demands for accommodation basics done exceptionally well and on delivering a consistent and differentiated experience on four key areas” – delivering a best-in-class sleep experience; a complimentary grab and go breakfast; leveraging the latest in technology to enable a seamless experience for guests; and a guarantee that the room will be ‘just right’ upon arrival.
