British Airways is planning to fly its A380 aircraft to Dubai next Spring.

It is believed it’s the first time British Airways will have taken its A380 flagship to Dubai on a daily scheduled basis.

But in Spring 2019, during the time of runway maintenance in Dubai, BA will be operating its A380 flagship daily out of London Heathrow.

Emirates details flight disruption during runway closure

BA is taking advantage of the A380’s superior capacity and between April 16 and May 4 it will operate one daily flight only.

The airline has yet to release an official announcement.

But news was first reported by Airlineroute  But when Business Traveller checked BA’s website *  the A380 is displayed as operating the following flights:

BA 107 London Heathrow – Dubai 1255-2305

BA106  Dubai- London Heathrow 0130-0615

It means for the first time BA will have a worthy product to compete with Emirates on this route.

And it must be remembered that BA is a hub airline carrying many of its passengers through, rather than to or from, London Heathrow.

Check the schedules.  They are perfectly timed for those passengers who will be making connections to or from domestic, mainland European and transatlantic destinations.

In a statement to Business Traveller a BA spokesperson said, “Like all airlines, we’re affected by the closure of one of the runways at Dubai in Spring 2019.  In order  to ensure we’re carrying as many passengers during this time, we plan to operate one of our flights using a larger A380 on this route.”

To clarify BA will be operating one service by A380 plus another (five times a week) service by B777.

The latter will be BA105 LHR-DXB 2225-0825 (daily except Tuesday/Friday) and BA104 DXB-LHR 1315-1800 (daily except Wednesday/Saturday).

BA would normally operate up to three daily flights on this route.
