Marriott International has expanded its Airbnb-style homeshare offering to cover Paris, Rome and Lisbon.

The expansion of Tribute Portfolio Homes follows a successful five-month pilot with London-based Hostmaker earlier this year.

The expanded portfolio means guests can book stays at over 340 homeshare properties across the four cities, as well as being able to earn and redeem points with the Marriott Rewards programme.

Marriott said that listed home are chosen “based on their overall design, functionality and location”, with all of them meeting “high quality, safety and security standards”.

Examples of new properties available through Tribute Portfolio Homes include a three-bedroom Parisian atelier with floor-to-ceiling French doors and views of the Eiffel Tower; an impeccably designed, Italian mid-century style apartment on a charming street in Rome; and a minimalist yet rustic home in the vibrant heart of Lisbon.

Marriott said that its London pilot had resulted in guests staying on average more than twice as long as a typical hotel stay. The group added that “Most guests sought units with multiple bedrooms and were appreciative of features such as full kitchens and in-unit laundry”.

Commenting on the news Belinda Pote, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Europe, Marriott International, said:

“The introduction of Tribute Portfolio Homes into some of Europe’s most celebrated cities enables us to provide travellers with an even greater choice of accommodation along with the reassurance of Marriott International’s exacting design standards, world-class loyalty programmes and commitment to customer service.

“The London pilot complements our current hotel portfolio and drives incremental business. We look forward to expanding our homesharing offering to Paris, Rome and Lisbon.”
