India hospitality brand Oyo has launched its first properties in the UK, with plans for rapid expansion in the next 18 months.

The group has opened Oyo Townhouse properties in Ilford, East London, and Sussex Gardens in London’s Paddington district.

According to the website oyorooms.com the hotels offer free wifi and complimentary breakfast.

Oyo launched the townhouse brand in 2017, and at the time founder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal said that it would “operate as a hotel, community hotspot, cafe and merchandise store – to deliver an all-encompassing experience to guests”.

According to a recent report by The Caterer, “the company has earmarked £40m to expand the budget Oyo franchise in Britain, with plans to launch in 10 cities over the next 18 months, particularly targeting Birmingham, London, Manchester and Edinburgh”.

When Business Traveller checked for one-night stay in mid-November, the Oyo Townhouse 30 Sussex quoted prices from £162, while the Oyo Townhouse 16 Ilford Hill quoted £65.
