SAS has extended its pre-order dining service to include customers travelling on shorter European services.

The carrier launched the service last year, enabling SAS Go (economy) customers on flights within Europe with a duration of two hours or more, to pre-order vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, gluten and lactose-free and pork-free dishes.

This service has now been extended to flights of 80 minutes or more, which SAS says has doubled the number of flights when pre-ordering is available to 80,000 flights per year.

There are a total of 11 paid-for dishes to choose from, costing €11, with customers able to add meals during the booking process, or at a later time through the My Bookings section of the carrier’s website.

The airline says that extending its pre-order service “is a part of SAS’s environmental and sustainability work”, as it allows the carrier to ensure “the right amount and type of meals are loaded to match customer demands on each specific flight” – while increasing ancillary revenues of course.
