Intercontinental Hotels Group has opened a dual-branded Staybridge Suites and Crowne Plaza property in Manchester.

The complex is housed within The Lume development on Oxford Road, with the Crowne Plaza occupying the lower 12 floors of the building, and the Staybridge Suites situated on the top seven floors.

The 212-room Crowne Plaza Manchester Oxford Road features a gym, club lounge, Laureate restaurant, Graduate Bar and seven meeting rooms, while the Staybridge Suites Manchester Oxford Road has 116 studios with kitchens, and features a gym, laundry facilities, complimentary breakfast in the Hub, and a top floor terrace area.

The development is part of the University of Manchester’s Campus Masterplan, and is located next to the new Executive Education Centre.

Commenting on the news Andrew Fletcher, General Manager for both hotels, said:

“We couldn’t be more pleased to have opened this stunning dual-brand hotel. For the first time, travellers to the north of England will have the choice of two different hotel styles in one central location.

“Giving both business and leisure travellers a new way to experience Manchester is something we have been excited about for some time. We have combined two hotels under one roof and are naturally delighted to now welcome people into what is a brilliant, relevant and flexible offer.”

Dual-branded IHG properties are becoming more and more commonplace, with the group set to open a Crowne Plaza / Holiday Inn Express development at Heathrow’s T4 later this month, as well as a Holiday Inn / Staybridge Suites property on Heathrow’s Bath Road next year.
