Lufthansa is trialling a new grab ‘n’ go food and beverage box for time-pressed premium passengers at Munich airport.
The self-service “Delights to Go” offering is available to Lufthansa customers with lounge access, and is located in Terminal 2 near gate G19.
Passengers show their boarding pass at the entrance to the area, and then use a “modern, interactive user interface” to select one of three boxes.
The offering will vary every two weeks, but Lufthansa gives the following examples:
- Classic – tuna wrap or Greek salad
- Balance – sprout sandwich with pear and fig mustard, or quinoa ginger salad
- Local – Munich sausage salad
The above are complemented by a sweet or savoury snack, piece of fresh fruit and small bottle of water, all packaged in a “robust cardboard box”.
Customers can then choose coffee, tea or juice, which will be placed in a holder within the box, and the entire meal is then placed into a paper bag to be taken away.
Lufthansa says that the six-month trial was developed following a field test for quick refreshment at a Senator lounge at Frankfurt airport.
The carrier says that the results of the research showed that “many lounge guests in a hurry wanted an efficient, time-saving catering option in the form of a to-go offer”.
Lufthansa stressed that those passengers with more time could continue to visit “one of the many Lufthansa lounges at Munich Airport”.
