Marriott has announced the launch of its luxury St Regis brand in Australia, with the 168-room St Regis Melbourne set to open in 2022.
The hotel will be housed within the mixed use Flinders Bank development at the corner of Spencer Street and Flinders Street, a location described as “the junction of Melbourne’s bustling CBD, the lively river promenade and the flourishing Crown Entertainment Complex”.
St Regis will occupy floors two to 11 of the 33-storey building, with guests enjoying views of the city or Yarra River.
Facilities will include a speciality restaurant, the St Regis Bar, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, and an Iridium Spa and beauty salon.
Commenting on the news Richard Crawford, Senior Director, Hotel Development, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific at Marriott International, said:
“This signing is an indication of the investment community’s confidence in the Australian hotel market, where we are seeing a growing demand for premium lodgings.
“The St Regis Melbourne will be an outstanding addition to our strong and growing footprint in the region, where we are on track to boast the largest portfolio of upper upscale and luxury hotels and resorts, with two-thirds of the new supply pipeline.”
Marriott recently confirmed the return of its W Hotels brand to Sydney, with a new 593-room property close to Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
