Low-cost carrier Air Arabia has announced plans for its first route to the Czech Republic.

The carrier announced via its Twitter page that it would launch flights between its base at Sharjah International Airport and the Czech Republic capital of Prague.

The five times weekly route will commence on December 11.

The UAE city of Sharjah neighbours Dubai, with Sharjah International airport located around 25km north east of Dubai International airport.

Launched in 2003, Air Arabia currently operates a fleet of around 50 A320-200 aircraft, with six A320neos set to be delivered from 2019.

The group has a number of international joint ventures, including Air Arabia Egypt, based in Alexandria, and Air Arabia Maroc, based in Casablanca.
