Norwegian has launched its new Recaro 3710C slimline seat on a newly delivered B737 Max aircraft.

The carrier will receive a total of 12 of the new-generation B737’s with the slimline seat this year, and also plans to retrofit its six existing Max aircraft with the new seat.

The aircraft will continue to offer 189 seats in a 3-3 configuration, with 30 inches of pitch and 17.2 inches of seat width.

Norwegian says that the new leather seat is “designed to add space at knee-level giving customers additional comfort”, although equally importantly to the carrier’s fuel bill will be the 200kg reduction in weight per aircraft with the introduction of the lighter Recaro seat.

The carrier took delivery of its first B737 Max in 2017, and currently operates the aircraft on routes from the UK and Ireland to US East Coast destinations including New York Stewart International and Providence airports.

Singapore Airlines recently announced plans to purchase Recaro’s CL3710 seating for forthcoming aircraft including 11 A350s.
