Delta has placed an order for 20 CRJ900 aircraft, which will see the carrier become the launch customer for Bombardier’s new Atmosphere cabin design.

The aircraft will operate under the Delta Connection brand on “small market routes to and from Delta’s domestic hubs”.

They will be configured with a total of 70 seats, with 38 in the main cabin, 20 in Delta Comfort +, and 12 in first class.

Benefits of the new Atmsophere design include larger overhead storage bins, “the largest windows in class”, LED mood lighting, larger toilet facilities, in-seat power and inflight wifi connectivity.

Delta is expected to take delivery of the first of the new aircraft in late 2018, with the last delivery in 2020.
