When aviation industry analyst OAG unveiled the results of its annual Punctuality League 2018 back in January, it revealed a telling sign highlighting the importance of Asia to the air travel market.

Eight of the world’s 10 busiest international routes were to be found in the region, with hubs Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta being particularly prominent.

Now, just four months later OAG is once again revisiting its list for the period March 2017 to February 2018. Not because the number of Asian airlines in the top 10 has changed – the region still accounts for eight of them – but because the list itself has seen a shake-up, including a new claimant to the title of world’s busiest international route.

So just what did the new list reveal about which international routes are the busiest in the world over the past year? Here are the top 20.
