AC Hotels by Marriott has opened its first properties in New York and Montreal, as the lifestyle brand continues to grow beyond its European roots.

The 290-room AC Hotel New York Times Square is located at 260 West 40th Street, and features street level tapas restaurant Boqueria and a rooftop lounge with views of the New York skyline.

Other facilities include a 24-hour fitness centre, 3,365 square feet of events space, and an AC Market selling locally sourced items.

The property is the first of two planned openings for AC Hotels by Marriott in New York in 2018, with a second due to open in the Financial District later this year.

Meanwhile the 169-room AC Hotel Montreal Centre-Ville represents the first property under the brand in Canada, and is located on Boulevard Rene-Levesque, close to the city’s entertainment district and old town.

The property is housed within the first 12 floors of a new-build development, and Mediterranean restaurant La Palma, a 21-metre swimming pool, a fitness centre, AC store, and 5,900 square feet of meeting space.

AC Hotels by Marriott was launched in 2011 through a joint venture between Marriott and Spanish group AC Hotels, and was introduced to the US market in 2014, followed by the launch of the first UK properties in 2016.
