Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced it is to buy luxury hotel chain Regent Hotels.

Regent Hotels currently has six hotels in its portfolio. IHG says it will expand this to 40 and will rebrand its own Intercontinental Hong Kong into a Regent in early 2021 following an extensive refurbishment due to commence in early 2020. Ironically, the hotel originally opened its doors in 1980 as a Regent.
