Five new resorts perfect for a holiday retreat in Asia

Located near Dreamland Beach, one of Bali’s most idyllic hidden coves and a place replete with beach clubs and local cafes, Wyndham Dreamland Bali is also situated opposite the award-winning New Kuta Golf Course, which offers golfers an 18-hole links-styled fairway terrain overlooking panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The 177-room resort also offers eight luxurious villas featuring one or two bedrooms, with private swimming pools. Leisure facilities, meanwhile, comprise two outdoor swimming pools overlooking the gardens, as well as a dipping pool for children. The resort also has a Tirta Spa and a yoga deck.

Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin

The Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin is the highest hotel in Hua Hin, a city south of Bangkok, and offers 360-degree views from the rooftop making this a good spot to watch sunrises over the Gulf of Thailand in the east and sunsets over the hills in the west. The resort features 300 rooms and suites, including a series of interconnecting rooms and KidSuites, with special rooms decked out with bunk beds and play areas. It also offers an infinity pool on the 26th floor, a Tea Tree Spa, a 24-hour fitness centre, a kids’ club and a children’s pool. The resort is connected to Vana Nava Hua Hin Water Jungle, which boasts 20 world-class water slides and attractions surrounded by more than 200,000 trees.

The Datai Langkawi resort will reopen in July this year after its US$60 million renovation, which will see the interiors of guestrooms, suites, villas and public areas remodelled with designs inspired by the local environment, culture and materials. Three additional Rainforest Pool Villas have been added to the existing five, all located along the Datai River that runs through the 750-hectare rainforest, with each villa featuring a deck and pool overlooking the river. A Nature Centre has also been added, housing a tea corner with a range of wild traditional Malay tisanes designed to offer health benefits. The laboratory there also offers scientific research activities that allow guests to discover the nearby marine and rainforest environment.

Opening in May this year, the Angsana Zishuangbanna resort is situated in the Horon Monbala Royal Southeast Asian Botanical Garden Resort Zone, an hour’s drive from downtown Jinghong of Xishuangbanna in China’s Yunnan province. The design of the rooms, suites and villas are locally-inspired, and offer an outdoor spa pool on the balcony. The property also features an 8,400 sqm hot spring centre with 21 outdoor pools spread across five thematic zones, five spa pavilions and the Spring Forest.
