Members of Intercontinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) loyalty programme, IHG Rewards Club, can earn up to 71,000 bonus points this year through the group’s latest promotion.
Members have to register for the promotion beforehand in order to be eligible to earn bonus points, and registering itself nets you 1,000 bonus points alone. Staying at one hotel earns 10,000 bonus points, and an extra 30,000 is awarded when members complete their third stay, for a total of 41,000 bonus points. These can be at any of IHG’s properties.
However, to get the full 71,000 bonus-point maximum, members will need to stay at a minimum of five hotels, including properties under the group’s flagship Intercontinental Hotel brand.
Members get an extra 10,000 points for staying at these hotels, but only after the first and third stay. For example, the second hotel stay usually wouldn’t award any bonus points, however if it were at an Intercontinental Hotel, you would get 10,000 extra points, for a total of 51,000. Staying at an Intercontinental Hotel for your fourth and fifth stay would then bring this up to 71,000.
Alternatively, you could stay at your first three hotels, get the 41,000 bonus points, and then stay at three Intercontinental Hotels to bring this up to 71,000.
All stays have to be completed by December 31, 2018 in order to be eligible and must be booked through IHG’s website or mobile app.
The good news is that the promotion applies to almost all of IHG’s properties in Asia under its Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites brands, along with all those in the Middle East and Africa.
The bad news is that this excludes hotels in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
