Hong Kong is set to welcome the St Regis to its hospitality scene early next year, the first time the renowned luxury Marriott International brand has opened a property in the city.

While a confirmed opening date beyond “early 2019” has yet to be announced by Marriott, it has been confirmed that local architect Andre Fu – the same designer behind other notable properties such as Swire Hotels’ The Upper House in Admiralty district – is behind the new 25-storey hotel, located in the city’s bustling Wan Chai district.

A total of 129 guest suites will be developed within the hotel, many of which will have views of the Kowloon peninsular and Victoria Harbour. Other confirmed facilities include a 320-seat banquet hall, a heated swimming pool, signature Chinese and French restaurants, as well as the brand’s namesake Butler Service.

While this will be Hong Kong’s first St Regis-brand hotel, Marriott International currently operates a total of nine properties in the city.

“Hong Kong is a bustling centre of commerce with an incredible mix of glamour, culture, history and tradition,” said Lisa Holladay, vice president and global brand leader for St Regis Hotels and Resorts. “This vibrancy makes it an ideal destination for a St Regis.”

Marriott has more than 40 St Regis hotels across the world, nine of which are located in Greater China, including a new property in Shanghai that opened in May.
