Extending work trips to enjoy a little leisure time is relatively common among business travellers, a new report indicates.

Conference News reports that a survey from laterooms.com found that 23 per cent of business travellers add at least one extra night onto their trips.

Moreover, 41 per cent of employees surveyed by the UK based hotel reservation site said they want to take more business trips. The availability of on-site bars and restaurants and leisure facilities like pools, gyms, and saunas were cited as important by business travellers alongside work-related amenities like wifi.

London, the Lake District, Edinburgh, and Manchester were the most popular business travel destinations in the UK, survey respondents said.

“The demand for staycations within both the consumer and business travel markets shows no signs of abating, and it’s interesting to see employees are now being savvy with their business bookings, using them as an opportunity to take a night away and enjoy cost-effective access to the best of the UK,” said Graeme Descoteaux, head of LateRooms for Business.
