Cyclone Ockhi causes moderate flight delays in Mumbai

Flights delayed by 15 minutes

Flight operations in Mumbai were moderately impacted by heavy rains caused by Cyclone Ockhi that hit the western coast of India on Tuesday. There were delays from around 15 minutes to up to an hour at the city airport and major airlines notified the passengers about the changes in schedule via Twitter.

Departures and arrivals for Jet Airways flights were delayed by 45 minutes due to air traffic congestion and continued until 8 pm.

Low cost carriers SpiceJet and GoAir also requested customers to check flight status before leaving for the airport.

On the other hand, Air India has said that its flight delays were due to some other issues and not bad weather.

Cyclone Ockhi has originated near Sri Lanka and has travelled near the southern region, along the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala before hitting the western part of India.   jetairways.comspicejet.com; goair.in
