Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has just launched a new worldwide sale open to members of its loyalty programme, IHG Rewards Club, offering discounts and bonus points on hotel bookings made this month as part of its “Your World Sale” promotion.
The promotion includes all properties in IHG’s portfolio – about 5,000 of them worldwide – and will run until November 29 this year. Stays have to take place between November 18, 2017 and April 15, 2018, though these do differ between regions.
It’s also worth noting that while the Your World Sale page currently states that discounts range from between 15 and 30 per cent during this period, the range is actually just 11 to 30 per cent off Best Flexible Rates, according to the promotion’s terms and conditions.
These discounts also vary by region – for instance, bookings for hotels in Europe range from 11 to 30 per cent, while those in Greater China range from 11 to just 20 per cent. Discounts on reservations in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, meanwhile, range from 15 to 30 per cent.
Aside from discounts, there are other benefits on offer for IHG Rewards Club members this month, including the opportunity to get 10,000 bonus points when they join the Intercontinental Ambassador programme between November 11 and 29 this year.
IHG Rewards Club members differ from Intercontinental Ambassadors in that the former is a free-to-join programme that offers tier status, access to exclusive rates and the earning of points, which can then be spent on reward nights, retail and other benefits. Intercontinental Ambassadors, meanwhile, pay US$200 to join and receive benefits including complimentary weekend nights, guaranteed upgrades and other privileges, such as late check-out.
Members of IHG Rewards Club looking to earn some bonus points before the end of the year do have other options, however. IHG is currently running a separate “Accelerate” promotion where members can earn 30,000 bonus points, provided they register for the promotion and meet certain criteria.
Those enrolled have to complete a series of offers, each with different requirements, by December 31, 2017. Bonus points will be awarded for each offer completed (these vary depending on the offer), and all offers must be completed in order to earn the 30,000 bonus points.
