Australian service apartment group Quest Apartment Hotels has announced plans for its first UK property.

Quest Liverpool City Centre is scheduled to open 2019, and will be the brand’s first hotel outside of Australasia, where the group operates 160 properties in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Quest said that it “plans to apply its successful model to open ten properties across the country in the next five years”.

The hotel will be housed within floors two to six of a converted and expanded office building on the city’s Church Street, close to the Liverpool One development.

Facilities will include 100 serviced apartments, a reception, conference room and gym.

In a statement Quest said that “the government’s Northern Powerhouse Strategy” had encouraged it to choose Liverpool for its first property outside Australasia, with Andrew Weisz, Director of UK Development at Quest commenting:

“Hospitality brands have a huge role to play in opening up City Centre locations for business again, but against a backdrop of economic uncertainty – it is clear that businesses want to spend travel budgets wisely.

“We’ve immersed ourselves in the UK market in recent months and can see the potential for the aggressive expansion of both our brand and the apartment hotel industry here.”
