Malaysia Airlines has launched a new in-flight e-commerce platform, Temptations, that enables travellers to shop at home and pick up their purchases on their next Malaysia Airlines flight with a duration of three or more hours.
Travellers can now browse and pre-order items on the platform up to 90 days before their flight’s scheduled departure time, ensuring the purchases are available on their next. Final purchases and changes can be made up to 72 hours before their flight, and deliveries can also be sent to their home.
Speaking about the rollout, Malaysia Airlines chief commercial officer, Arved von Zur Muehlen, said: “Temptations online is part of Malaysia Airlines’ digital transformation and we hope that we will be able to enhance our guests’ experience with the convenience of pre-ordering their favourite items prior to their flight departure or even for delivery at home.
“International shipping will be made available in the coming months for our international guests to enjoy this added service,” he added.
Members of the airline’s Enrich frequent-flyer programme will also be able to accrue points at a rate of two points per RM1 (US$0.2) spent, starting the end of November. Points will be able to be redeemed online to purchase items without requiring physical vouchers.
A 15 per cent discount is currently being offered on all pre-orders excluding alcohol and tobacco until October 31 this year.
Meanwhile, Enrich is now offering six-times the normal number of miles with selected lifestyle partners as part of its “30 Days of Rewards” campaign, which also includes the recently revamped members’ portal on the airline’s website.
“This year marks the 30th anniversary of Malaysia Airlines’ frequent-flyer programme and we are excited to offer members with more ways to earn miles via the ‘30 Days of Rewards’ campaign,” said von Zur Muehlen. “This campaign, which will be running until the end of the month, is our way of thanking our loyal members and partners for their continued support throughout the years and in inspiring the airline to constantly enrich their travel and lifestyle experiences.”
Enrich miles can now be accrued on all flights operated by Malaysia Airlines, Oneworld alliance member carriers, and Malaysia Airlines’ eight partner carriers, as well as at more than 300 hotels and by using credit cards from bank partners and with other lifestyle partners
