Following the launch of its first North America service to Vancouver back in June, Hong Kong Airlines has expanded its network in Canada with a new codeshare agreement with low-cost carrier Westjet.

The codeshare adds to the two airlines’ existing interline agreement, which was launched earlier this year.

For Hong Kong Airlines passengers, the codeshare will mean easier travel on Westjet’s connecting flights between Vancouver and Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto. The full list of the codeshare services is as follows:

“Our newly launched daily service between Hong Kong and Vancouver has been a great success, and this codeshare agreement with Westjet, which extends our network in Canada beyond Vancouver towards Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto is the logical next step,” said Li Dianchun, Hong Kong Airlines’ chief commercial officer. “Passengers flying with Hong Kong Airlines can now enjoy a seamless connection experience onto a Westjet flight.”

Hong Kong Airlines’ North America expansion is set to continue this year, with its inaugural Los Angeles service due to take off in December, flown by its first Airbus A350 aircraft. The Hong Kong carrier took delivery of the aircraft earlier this month, coinciding with the opening of its new Club Autus lounge at Hong Kong International Airport.
