British Airways looks set to launch flights from London to Nashville next year, with US daily newspaper The Tennessean reporting that an announcement is expected “as soon as next week”.

According to the report “Nashville International Airport is poised to land a nonstop flight to London on British Airways, culminating a multiyear effort by government, business and tourism leaders to secure the flight”.

The report adds that the last time there was a non-stop service between Nashville and London was in the 1990s, when American Airlines had a hub at the airport.

Aside from the music and film industry, Nashville is home to a burgeoning healthcare sector, while nearby Franklin is home to Nissan’s North American headquarters.

Business Traveller contacted the BA press office for comment and was given the following statement:

“We keep our global route network under constant review, however, for commercially sensitive reasons we don’t comment on specific routes unless we are ready to formally announce them.”
