Sydney Airport gets new Mantra Hotel

19 Jul 2017 by Craig Bright

Sydney Airport has just got a new hotel in the form of the aptly named Mantra Hotel at Sydney Airport, making it the city’s third on-airport hotel.

The new 136-room Mantra is the smallest of Sydney Airport’s hotels by room size alone – the Rydges Sydney Airport has 318 rooms, while the Ibis Budget Hotel has 199 rooms. Like the Ibis, the new Mantra is located close to Terminals 2 and 3 (Rydges is located at Terminal 1).

In terms of facilities, the property features a 24-hour reception with express checkout services and an internet kiosk. Meanwhile the on-site restaurant offers buffet, a la carte and grab-and-go options. There’s also a fully licensed bar.

All rooms are of the “Studio King” variety, though different categories do exist, based around view options (urban or airport).

According to Mantra Group CEO, Bob East, the new property fills the airport’s need for additional hotel capacity and a “contemporary airport accommodation with vibrant, dynamic facilities and a slick service culture”. Some 42 million passengers travel through Sydney Airport each year.

The new Mantra is approximately 8km from Sydney’s central business district.

To mark the opening, the hotel is also offering a per-night rate of A$159 (US$126) including 1GB of internet access per day, a welcome drink voucher and a room upgrade where available.
