Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) has launched a first class sale, with 100,000 discounted tickets starting from £20 each way.

The promotion runs from 1000 on July 12, until midnight on July 15, and is valid for travel between July 22 and September 22 (excluding August 24-28).

More information is available at virgintrainseastcoast.com/first-class-sale.

The operator says that Advance single tickets are available from £20 between London King’s Cross and Leeds (usually £43.50), £30 between London and Newcastle (usually £54.50) and £40 between London and Edinburgh (usually £58.50).

The sale is only valid on VTEC services (not the Virgin West Coast mainline), and does not include journeys to or from points north of Edinburgh. The operator warns that there will be limited availability on peak services, and on services running between Edinburgh and London throughout August (during the Fringe Festival).

The promotion cannot be combined with other discounts such as Railcards, and no changes, refunds or breaks of journey are permitted.

VTEC’s first class offers access to lounges at selected stations, and complimentary food and drink and reclining seats onboard.
