Hotel update: Global round-up

Business Traveller rounds up new, renovated and upcoming hotels from brands including Shangri-La, AC Hotels, Autograph Collection and Anantara Resorts.

Park Hotel Farrer Park, Singapore

Park Hotel Group has opened a new property in Singapore. Located near Farrer Park MRT subway station, the hotel has 300 rooms in five categories including duplex “sky lofts”, suitable for families or extended stays (the Crystal Club and Sky Loft rooms also have access to the Crystal Club Lounge). A specialty restaurant serves Thai street food, while the pool deck looks out onto a “gastrobar”, which offers a menu of burgers, craft beer and southern American comfort food. Meanwhile, the lobby lounge provides specialty coffee and artisanal teas. Guests have access to a 24-hour gym.

Shangri-La Yiwu Lobby Lounge

Shangri-La Yiwu, China

Shangri-La has opened a hotel in Yiwu, in the central Chinese province of Zhejiang. Housed in a 53-storey mixed use tower, the hotel has 362 rooms including 136 serviced apartments featuring marble bathrooms, work desks and floor-to-ceiling windows. Three restaurants serve traditional Chinese and gourmet international cuisine, while meeting planners have the choice of up to 3,800 sqm of conference and event facilities. There is also a spa, gym and an indoor swimming pool.

Grand Hotel Des Sablettes Plage, Curio Collection by Hilton

Curio Collection by Hilton has opened a property on the French Riviera. Set within a 19th-century building, the hotel is a fifteen-minute drive from Toulon city centre, offering 75 rooms and suites designed with classic features that emphasise the building’s history.  The hotel has an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty seafood brasserie and a fine dining outlet serving French-Mediterranean dishes. There is also a gym and a spa.

Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, Madrid

Marriott has added its third Madrid property to the Autograph Collection. Located off the city’s main thoroughfare, the hotel has 71 rooms, all housed in a historic building once home to the renowned Bilis Club literary society. There is an all-day dining restaurant plus a champagne bar and a cocktail bar, offering views across the capital from an outdoor terrace. The property joins Autograph Collection’s Hotel Palacio del Retiro and Hotel Santo Mauro in Madrid.

Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Hotel Circle/SeaWorld Area

Hilton has opened an extended stay property in Mission Valley, San Diego. Located within reach of San Diego Convention Centre and Balboa Park, the hotel has 245 rooms with fully equipped kitchens a lounge and bedroom. Complimentary hot breakfast is available every day, while an evening social event takes place fro Monday to Thursday each week. There is an outdoor heated pool, whirlpool, gym and outdoor patio area with fire pits. Flexible meeting space is also on offer for up to 65 people.

Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu

Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu, Nepal

Marriott has opened its first hotel in Nepal. Located in the tourist district of Thamel, the hotel has 115 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant serving local, Indian and international cuisines plus a bar and lobby lounge. There is also a business centre, meeting space and high speed wifi, along with a 24/7 convenience store within the hotel.

AC Hotel Mainz

AC Hotel Mainz, Germany

Marriott has opened its first hotel from lifestyle brand AC Hotels in Germany. Following a recent renovation, the hotel has 58 rooms with interiors designed by Dutch firm Helge Docters van Leeuwen, featuring  open-plan closets, work desks, “signature amenities” and rain showers in bathrooms. The hotel’s restaurant and bar serves French bistro food while snacks and cocktails are on offer in the hotel’s AC Lounge.

Anantara Guiyang Resort, China

Luxury resort group Anantara has opened a new property in the southwestern Chinese city of Guiyang. A 15-minute drive from Guiyang airport, the hotel has 219 rooms and suites including one to three-bedroom villas designed with oriental accents and indigenous materials. There are both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a spa and four dining options including a specialty Chinese, a Thai, and a casual lobby lounge serving snacks and drinks. A range of meeting rooms are available, including ballrooms, board rooms and outdoor spaces.

Hotel Parister

Parister Hotel, Paris

Located in Paris’ Faubourgs district, the hotel is expected to open this September offering 45 rooms and suites. Designed by French architects Beckmann N’Thépé, the property boasts an interior garden and large public space using materials such as walnut wood, brass and concrete. Entry level rooms start at 17 sqm and include a 40-inch Smart TV, high-speed wifi and a work desk with USB ports. There is also a restaurant and bar, plus a spa and a 20-metre indoor pool, alongside exercise classes available such as yoga, boxing and circuit training.
