Emirates is to drop one of its three daily services between Birmingham and Dubai from September.

The Gulf carrier currently operates flights from Birmingham departing at 0940 (EK042), 1420 (EK040), and 2140 (EK038), with the return legs leaving Dubai at 0320 (EK041), 0735 (EK039), and 1455 (EK037).

But Emirates has confirmed that flights EK041 and EK042 (served by a B777 aircraft) will be suspended from September 1. In a statement the carrier said:

“This decision was made as part of our routine operational review, to ensure that our capacity is deployed to best serve customer demand across our global network.

“We remain committed to Birmingham and will continue to serve our customers on this route with our twice daily service from Birmingham to Dubai.”

The remaining two daily flights are currently served by a B777 (EK040 and EK039) and a A380 superjumbo (EK038 and EK037).

The news follows Emirates’ recent decision to cut frequencies on five of its 12 US routes, blaming “recent actions taken by the US government”.
