Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris have launched an “industry first” alliance, which sees the integration of Shangri-La’s Golden Circle and Taj’s Inner Circle loyalty programmes.
The Warmer Welcomes partnership will offer members of both loyalty programmes reciprocal benefits and the chance to earn their preferred loyalty currency when staying at Shangri-La or Taj properties. Guests can convert points to redeem awards and benefits from either programme.
To celebrate the launch, Shangri-La is rewarding Taj Inner Circle members staying at its hotels with triple Taj Inner Circle Points, while Shangri-La Golden Circle members will receive triple Golden Circle award points when staying at Taj properties until June 30.
Members must link their accounts with the partner programme in order to automatically match status. Shangri-La’s Diamond members will align with Taj’s Platinum membership level, while Golden Circle Jade members will be awarded Gold status in the Taj Inner Circle programme. Golden Circle members staying at a Taj hotel will earn three Golden Circle award points for every US$5 spent, and Taj Inner Circle members will receive four Taj Inner Circle points for every US$5 spent on stays.
The conversion rate for the currencies is 100 Golden Circle award points to 67 Taj Inner Circle points. A minimum of 100 Golden Circle points is required for every conversion and a maximum of 250,000 points can be converted every year.
Taj Inner Circle points converts to Golden Circle award points at the rate of 100 to 38. A minimum of 100 Taj points is also required for every conversion with a maximum 250,000 points able to be converted every year.
