A pair of new hotels will soon begin rising on the site of an old motel near Seattle Tacoma (Sea-Tac) International Airport.

The Jet Motel site on International Boulevard will be home to a 240-room Hyatt Place hotel, a 140-room Hyatt House, and 90 apartment units, KING-TV reported. Both hotels are scheduled to open in early 2019.

“This is right in the city center of SeaTac and it’s a very meaningful project for us because it’s the first major redevelopment of a property that’s happened in this area of the city for quite some time,” said SeaTac economic development manager Jeff Robinson. “Right now we’ve got about 18 development projects in the pipeline, eight of those are hotels, and it will add about 2,000 new rooms to the stock, which is about a 20 per cent increase for us. Many hoteliers are seeing the expansion of the airport and the great tourism industry in the Seattle area as an impetus for them to move forward with development.”

The two Hyatt properties will join a number of other hotels along International Boulevard, which runs parallel to the light-rail line connecting to the airport, including nearby Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Days Inn, Holiday Inn, and Hampton Inn properties.
